The aspiring Independent Parliamentary Candidate (MP) for Domeabra-Obom in the Greater Accra Region, Mr Isaac Awuku Yibor has appealed to Parliament to consider amending the law that debar motorcycles to be used as commercial transport.
He said motorcycles could assist villages that are not accessible to passenger vehicles and would also go a long way to alleviate the transportation difficulties of the people.
He said the operation of motor cycle transport service popularly called ‘Okada’ also gives job opportunities to the youth.
Mr Awuku Yibor made the call at the celebration of the Hobor Motor Union known as ‘Azonto’.
He however reminded the riders that their operation is not legalised and should therefore be mindful of the way they operate.
Mr Yibor advised them to avoid overspeeding to save the lifespan of their motorcycles and also not to carry more passengers than the stipulate number.
He asked them to always wear their helmets to save themselves and those at their Back seats while they make some little savings for their future endeavours.
“The manners have stop coming from heaven; let us not be swollen headed and pull our weight now,” he said.
The aspiring MP who has: “Emerging Face of Hope,” as his slogan called on the opinion leaders in the area to shy away from backbiting and rather forge ahead in unity so that together they can help rise the youth to the level they need to become good citizens.**
