Winneba, April 15, GNA – The Member of Parliament for Effutu, Mr. Mike Allen Hammah, has stressed the need for churches to chart a new course that would promote rapid socio- economic and spiritual development of the entire Ghanaian society and not the well-being of the church alone.
Mr. Hammah was addressing about 1,500 members of the House of Faith Church to round off their annual conference at Winneba to appraise the past year’s performance and designed strategies for the year. Mr. Hammah said the time has come for Christians to cultivate true Christ like qualities of Christ so that non -Christians could develop love and commitment towards national goals.
He urged Christians to learn to sacrifice a lot to make life worthwhile for all manners of needy people in the society as the Holy Bible dictates, adding that God paid the ultimate price to enable mankind to reconcile with the creator by allowing his only begotten Son Jesus Christ to suffer and subsequently die on the Cross.
Mr. Hammah charged followers of the Christian principles to cultivate special communal spirit to help them devote much time for the communal duties designed to transform the social, economic and moral well-being of their towns, villages and the nation.
He asked pastors and other ministers of religion to seriously educate their members on the HIV/AIDS pandemic as their contribution to curb the spread of the disease in the country.
They should also enlighten their followers on issues likely to derail the peace, stability and forward march of the country.
