‘Mosquito’ is 59 today

General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Kwadwo Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, is celebrating his 59th birthday today.

Born at Seikwa in the Brong Ahafo Region, his love and dedication to the NDC saw him rise through the rungs of the party to become General Secretary. At the NDC’s delegate congress in December 2005, he won his current position by almost 80% of the votes cast.

Under his leadership, the NDC was able to defeat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2008 elections and has remained in power till date.
