The two con men who used a Christian NGO to dupe several thousands of Ghanaians students and are currently in custody at the Odorkor Police station are now in more trouble.
This is because other police stations nationwide are requesting for their transfer to their cells to help them investigate similar scams perpetrated in their jurisdiction. The first police station to make such a request was the Asamankese police which had received reports from over 600 students each of whom paid about ?500,000 to them and had still not received their training.
At the weekend, newsmen learnt that other people were rushing in to make their complaints after hearing of their arrest.
Last Friday, newsmen reported that an Ivorian and Nigerian who teamed together to form the NGO, UMES were in police custody. The Ivorian, Pastor Guyro D. Herve ad the Nigerian, Roger Ofori have duped the students of several billions of cedis after promising them free computers.
It was learnt that the Nigerian, who goes by the name Roger Ofori deliberately adopted that name to enable them register their NGO in Ghana. In an ironic twist, the two conmen, who found the Odorkor police cells too hot for them have purchased four ceiling fans for the police to install in their offices and charge room.
This gesture however seems to be an attempt by the conmen to secure favourable treatment for the conmen from the police.
