More Communities in Suhum Kraboa Coaltar to get power

Suhum, April 17, GNA- More communities in the Ayensuano constituency in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District are being connected to the national electricity grid. Sowatey, Kuano, Anum Apapam, Akyeaso, Pepase, Mfrano, Teacher Mante and Awuroso communities had already been connected while the rest were being mapped by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). Mr Godfred Okyere, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayensuano, announced this when he addressed a durbar of chiefs and people of Govinakrom near Suhum on Thursday. He said the communities would bear part of the cost of the project while the government and the district assembly would provide the rest of the amount.

Mr Okyere said government had constructed roads and built schools, clinics and markets in the area. He urged the people to vote massively for the New Patriotic Party in the 2008 Election to enable the Government to continue with its development agenda. Barima Kwaku Govina II, Chief of Govinakrom, commended government for keeping to its promise to develop the area. He said even though the town was a strong hold of the National Democratic Congress, government did not discriminate against the people in the sharing of the national cake. Barima Govina appealed to the MP to visit the area regularly to be abreast with the problems of the people. The Chief donated 3,000 Ghana cedis towards the electricity projects.
