Moles in Nigeria’s military helping Boko Haram terrorism

International Relations expert Vladimir Antwi-Danso says there’s ample evidence to suggest the Nigerian army and security forces have been infiltrated by Boko Haram moles, thus frustrating Goodluck Jonathan’s government’s fight against the Islamist militant group.

Ghanaian President John Mahama, who is also the Chairman of ECOWAS, is in Nigeria over Boko Haram’s abduction of 230 schoolgirls in the neighbouring country.

Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has criticised the slow pace at which the Nigerian Government and Africa as a whole have responded to the abduction.

The US, UK, France and China have all joined an international military campaign to free the girls.

Dr. Antwi Danso who is with the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy at the University of Ghana told XYZ News on Thursday that the war against terrorism in Nigeria cannot be won if the Boko Haram moles aren’t flushed out from the oil-rich country’s military and security forces.

“I think Goodluck Jonathan has said it once, or a number of times. I heard him clearly. He said even within his government, he suspects that there are people who are supporting Boko Haram with logistics and intelligence. Again he reiterated that, within the security sector, there are also people he thinks are aiding and abetting the Boko Haram people so I’m not surprised. And now if the Nigerian security is even effective, there is this problem of intelligence getting back to the Boko Haram before they could even strike,” Dr. Antwi-Danso said.

He said: “Secondly the methodology being used by the Nigerian army, I don’t think is the correct one. It’s full force as if there is a war front. With terrorism, there is no war front.”
