MoF clears picketing health workers

The Finance Ministry has given clearance for all 450 less job Allied Health Professionals to be employed.

Deputy Health Minister Tina Mensah made the announcement on Tuesday evening after the jobless health professionals spent a night at the Ministry.

Members of the Coalition of Bonded Unposted Allied Health Professionals picketed the Ministry in Accra to protest against the government’s failure to post them to their stations after completing their studies and national service.

Solomon Yeboah, President of the group, on Monday said: “This has become necessary following the ‘neglect’ of the promise made by the Hon. Deputy Minister (Mrs Tina Mensah) to provide us with evidence of our financial clearance with date of immediate postings on Monday, 15th May, 2017.

“We state without any equivocation that we are not leaving the MoH and shall continue to the Flagstaff House premises when necessary until we see an evidence-based satisfactory of our financial clearance.

“We plead the support of all stakeholders, security agencies, and the general public to support us in our ‘fight’ for justice.”

This is the second time that a group has picketed the Ministry to secure financial clearance for their postings. The first such picketing was by a group of unemployed nurses in the thousands.
