Mobile phone thief jailed for 18 months

Tema, July 9, GNA – A District Magistrate Court in Tema jailed a 20-year-old labourer for 18 months for stealing a mobile phone. John Oshah who was in the company of another person, now at large, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector of Police Margaret Nunoo told the Court presided over by Nana Agyeman Badu that on June 15, 2004, at about 1230 hours, Osah and his accomplice entered a store of the complainant at Tema Community 11 to buy material.

She said the complainant raised the alarm when Osah stole her mobile phone and two men assisted her to arrest Osah and his accomplice, who bit one of the men and escaped.
