Mob burns suspected robber

Kumasi, Oct 2, GNA – An angry mob last Saturday set ablaze a member of a suspected gang of armed robbers which raided a mobile phone retail shop at Asafo in Kumasi around 1500 hours and stole cash running into several millions of cedis.

The gun-wielding robbers reportedly trailed a customer who went to transact business in the shop.

An eyewitness, who briefed the Ghana News Agency, said when the customer entered the shop, the robbers, numbering three, allegedly followed him, ordered everybody in the shop to lie down and collected the money at gunpoint.

The eyewitness said as the robbers attempted to flee in a taxicab, the mob arrested one of them. They beat him and set his body ablaze.

The Asokwa police confirmed the incident and said an intensive search had been mounted to arrest the other robbers.
