Minority Leader inaugurates Ghc560,000 .00 school blocks

Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame, has inaugurated three newly- constructed classroom blocks in his constituency at separate ceremonies.

Each of the blocks of six classrooms, comes with offices, a library, computer centre and staff common room.

The beneficiaries – all basic schools, include Breman R/C, Suame M/A and Tarkwa Saint Joseph.

The total cost of the projects was estimated at Ghc560,000.00, with funding from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) and the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said the school blocks would significantly ease the congestion at the schools and also end classes being held under trees.

The MP expressed his determination to do everything to promote education in the constituency, saying that, it was the surest way to bring progress to the people.

Apart from being instrumental in the provision of the schools blocks, he had also supplied a number of laptop computers to some basic schools in the area, and promised to help provide furniture and refurbish some other old school structures.

He urged the school authorities and leadership of the communities to ensure that the buildings were properly maintained.

Mrs. Naana Abudu, Metropolitan Director of Education, commended Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu for his special interest in education.

She warned against the collection of unauthorized fees and urged the teachers to go the extra mile and improve the academic performance of the schools.

She appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to help fence the schools to prevent encroachment and people from using their compound as a thoroughfare.

The chief of Breman, Nana Kutin Sraman II, advised the teachers to show passion for the job and make effective use of the contact hours to avoid organizing “extra classes” at the expense of parents.
