Ministry to introduce new nodules under NYEP

Pusu-Namo (U/E), July 5, GNA – The Ministry of Manpower, Youth and Employment will soon introduce trades and vocational courses under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP). The Deputy National Coordinator in charge of the Northern and Upper East regions, Chief Maasu Issifu, said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Pusu-Namo at the end of a four-day induction course for newly recruited NYEP personnel to the Non-Formal Education Division (NFED).

He said the programme, which would be launched nationwide, would recruit hairdressers, tailors and masons who would be trained and given some financial support to set up.

He said registration of the programme had already started in the various regions and urged the youth to take advantage of it and enrol. Chief Issifu said those who are already in the trades and vocational field would be given refresher courses to assist them improve upon their skills and that under the programme the youth would be made to form cooperative groups.
