Ministry criticises erection of road ramps.

Begoro (E/R), Oct 9,GNA- The Minister of Roads and Highways, Dr Richard Anane has called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to stop erecting speed ramps on high ways.

A circular sent to all assemblies and read to members of the Fanteakwa District Assembly at Begoro on Wednesday, he said no speed ramps should be constructed without the authority of his ministry.

The Minister asked the people who call themselves “concerned citizens” to stop erecting speed ramps which he noted causes accidents. Dr Anane urged all assemblies to comply with the directives and ensure that sanity prevails on the highways.

Meanwhile the Begoro branch chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Mr Alex Amoama has appealed to the Fanteakwa District Assembly to re-gravel the five hundred-kilometre road at Damajo near Begoro to facilitate the movement of traffic.

Mr Amoama said passengers travelling on the road have to disembark and walk on the muddy road for several hours to their destination.
