Minister appeals to National Service personnel to lead campaign against

indiscipline

Dormaa Ahenkro (B/A), Aug 01, GNA – Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu, the Deputy Interior Minister, has called on national service personnel to lead the campaign against indiscipline in their homes and places of work.

He said indiscipline, especially at the labour front, had been a major a bane to the rapid socio-economic advancement of Ghana and many other developing countries.

The Deputy Minister said this at the launch of activities to commemorate this year’s National Service Week in Dormaa District at Dormaa Ahenkro.

The week, which is under the theme, “the role of service personnel in the continuous fight against indiscipline”, is aimed at engaging the service personnel in activities to round off the service year. Mr Agyemang Manu made it clear that productivity in Ghana could suffer “further blows” if the idea of “African time” whereby Ghanaians reported to work and public gatherings at their convenience was not shunned and removed from the local parlance.

Launching the week Squadron Leader Benjamin Anane-Asamoah (RTD), the Dormaa District Chief Executive, urged service personnel posted to remote parts of the country not to regard it as a punishment but rather as a platform for them to enrich and update their experiences. The Dormaa District National Service Coordinator, Mr. Thomas Amoah Kumi, said 95 per cent of all personnel posted to the district this year were sent to the schools to fill vacancies.
