Mills Urges ‘Calm’…Sends Delegation To Meet ‘Striking’ Doctors

Peacefmonline.com can confirm that President John Evans Atta Mills has sent a delegation to meet with doctors at the National Cardiothoracic Centre (NCTC) of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital who are currently on strike over the sudden termination of appointment of Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.

Government has issued a statement in that regard and below the full statement, signed by a Deputy Information Minister Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa.

PRESIDENT REVIEWING DEVELOPMENTS AT NATIONAL CARDIOTHORACIC CENTRE

President John Evans Atta Mills has become aware of developments at the National Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital since returning home from official assignment yesterday.

The President has subsequently convened a meeting this morning to receive a full brief on the situation and also to consider a petition sent to his office by doctors and staff of the Cardiothoracic Centre.

The President is therefore asking for restraint and urging that all remain calm whiles he reviews the current situation.
