Members of Methodist Diocese of Kumasi to receive training

Kumasi, May11, GNA-The Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church has drawn a comprehensive programme to equip the vulnerable in the society, especially women, by training them in income-generating ventures.

Rt Rev Prof Emmanuel Asante, the Diocesan Bishop, said the beneficiaries would be trained in soap making, tie and dye, bread making and others. This would help improve their incomes and contribute meaningfully towards the socio-economic development of the country. He announced this on Monday at a press briefing to throw more light on the 48th Annual Synod and Conference of the Church to be held in Kumasi from May 13-17.

The Synod and Conference under the theme “Be Your Brothers Keeper” will be attended by 300 delegates to be selected within the diocese. He said as part of the training programme the church would look at the possibility of rehabilitating ex-convicts by giving them employable skills.
