Media urged to concentrate on developmental issues

Akropong (E/R), April 12, GNA – The Rev. Dr. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, outgoing chairperson of the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has appealed to the media to concentrate on development issues rather than focusing on politics of insults and ethno-centrism.

He said the media had the power to make or unmake the country and prayed that, 93God give the media in Ghana the wisdom to lead the country into proper and wiser discussions”. Rev Dr Mante was speaking at the 84th Delegates 91Presbytery Conference of the church at Akropong at the weekend. He expressed worry over the recent politics of insults that seemed to be characterizing political discussions and the ethno-centric passions that the political discussions were fanning. Rev. Dr Mante therefore advised all and sundry, especially the youth, not to allow any politician to use them to do evil, adding that “on the day of judgement, each one of us will give account of our actions to God”.

Rev Dr Mante expressed worry over the slow development and creation of wealth in Africa and said he was committed to promoting the development of the Presbyterian Church and Akuapem Presbytery. Nana Ansah Sasraku, Mamfehene, advised Christian to live exemplary lives for others to follow.
