MCE declares 2007 a year of development action

Obuasi, Jan 8, GNA – Mr Joseph Kwadwo Boampong, the Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has declared 2007 a year of action that would require the commitment and unity of all residents to push the development of the municipality forward.

“2007 is a year of action, action in terms of important landmarks and development projects for the municipality”, he said. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency about his vision for the municipality, Mr Boampong said “Obuasi has grown from a district to a municipal status and we have to move forward”.

He said the assembly needed to build offices for the Obuasi High Court, Education Directorate and the National Health Insurance Scheme. Mr Boampong said those projects were major ones that should take off this year in addition to building roads in the municipality. He said areas without water would also be looked at to. Mr Boampong congratulated teachers in the municipality for their hard work which had led the municipality to chalk three consecutive firsts in the national Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) league table.
