Mawuli School PTA presents mono desks to school

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Mawuli School in Ho has presented 250 mono desks to the School.

The presentation was to address inadequate writing-desks for the increasing number of students.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) was told that at the beginning of the academic term, day students and some borders were using plastic chairs with or without tables in classrooms.

Mr Gameli Ahorlu, the PTA Chairman, at a general meeting on Saturday said the Association would provide 50 more desks in addition to a quantity provided by the National Investment Bank (NIB) and was hopeful that would bring to an end, students carrying chairs from the house.

He said the Association had also procured and installed a 150 KVA power plant to provide electricity to the School community during power outages and asked the students to take advantage of the interventions to enhance their academic performance.

Mr Ahorlu said the PTA was addressing security and sanitation challenges facing the School and cautioned students against damaging properties procured to enhance teaching and learning in the School.

Mr Mawusi J. K. Osei-Nyansah, Headmaster of the School, said management had noted that most students have “bad attitude” towards learning and do not know why they were in school.

He said quite a number of students in the final year refused to participate in the School’s mock examination and urged parents to talk to them against relying on “apor” or “manna” during their final examination.

“Let them know that no yazoo or apor will come from anywhere. They must learn. The teachers are doing their best,” Mr Osei-Nyansah stressed.

He also urged parents to desist from buying past questions for students, instead, encourage them to learn what they were taught in school.
