Massive protest against Oppong-Nkrumah victory

Some angry supporters of John Obiri Yeboah are staging a massive protest against the victory of former Joy FM Morning show host, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, in the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency in the Eastern region.

The angry supporters have reportedly blocked the main roads leading to the polling centre making it impossible for Oppong-Nkrumah and his supporters to leave.

A vehicle purportedly belonging to the former broadcaster has also been destroyed by the angry supporters of his opponent.

Oppong-Nkrumah polled 219 out of 418 votes to represent the main opposition in that constituency in the 2016 elections.

He beat his main rival, John Obiri Yeboah, who polled 145 votes in the ongoing primaries of the main opposition New Patriotic Party.

According to an eyewitness, the Police have failed to restore after they arrived at the scene. He added that Oppong-Nkrumah and some of his supporters have been locked up in a room at the polling centre.
