Mason sentenced to 15 years for defilement

A mason accused of defiling a minor has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in hard labour by a Kumasi circuit court, presided over by Mrs Rita Agyemang-Budu.

Isaac Owusu, 30, sexually assaulted his victim at Ahenema-Kokoben in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District and he pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Police Chief Inspector Rose Essuman said the crime was committed on October 18, last year.

The convict lives in the same neighbourhood with the little girl and had tricked her to follow him to an uncompleted building where he sexually abused her.

The victim later informed her mother about her traumatic ordeal and a formal report was made to the police.

Doctors who treated her, in a signed report, confirmed that she had indeed been defiled.
