Mason remanded for possessing fake currency

A 37-year-old mason caught with fake Ghana cedis has been remanded into prison custody by the Juaso Circuit Court presided over by Justice Alex Obeng Asante.

The plea of Bright Okyere was not taken and he was ordered to reappear before court on January 18.

He is facing a charge of possessing forged currency.

Police Inspector Mannaseh Obimpe, told the court that the complainant, Yvonne Asare, is a teacher and operates a shop at Banso near Obogu.

He said on December 21, last year, at about 1530 hours, Okyere went to the shop and bought perfume and paid for it with a GH¢20.00 note that was later detected to be fake.

Insp. Obimpe said the complainant reported the case 0to the police and the accused was arrested.

Seven more of the counterfeit notes were retrieved from him.
