Accra, Jan. 21, GNA – A 47-year-old mason who defiled a 14-year old mentally retarded girl was on Wednesday sentenced to seven years imprisonment with labour by a Circuit Court in Accra. George Casper, 47 pleaded guilty to defilement.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Emmanuel T. Boison told the court, presided over by Mr. Kwadwo Owusu that the victim, who appeared to be mentally retarded lives with her parents at Nungua in Acca.
He said the convict also lives in the same vicinity with the victim. Prosecution said on January 17, this year, at about 1100 hours, the victim, after eating with the mother went to play around.
Inspector Boison said the mother later went to look for the victim and spotted her in the company of the convict in an uncompleted building. Prosecution said immediately Casper saw the victim’s mother, he scaled a wall and took to his heels.
Prosecution said the mother became suspicious and questioned the victim who revealed that the convict had sex with her. The victim’s mother raised the alarm and the convict was apprehended and handed over to the Police.
Prosecution said the victim was issued a medical form to attend hospital.
