Married woman insists Accra DVLA Manager attempted raping her

A married woman, who claims she was nearly raped by the Accra Regional Licensing Manager at the Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) says beside the attempted rape, she suffered bouts of sexual abuse and harassment at the hands of her boss.

The Authority, on Wednesday described the incident as an alleged “sexual harassment” which is being investigated.

The married woman, who pleaded anonymity so as to save her marriage, claims she was fired by Noah Tetteh Martey after the near-rape incident.

She told XYZ News’ Presidential Correspondent Kwame Danso Acheampong on Wednesday that: “He’ll call me on phone” into his office and “start touching you”.

According to her, “I told him I don’t like that because I’m a married woman”, the alleged victim claimed, adding that each time she protested about the harassment, Tetteh Martey retorted that: “After all what? Married women are doing that [so] I should give it to him so that anything that I want, he will do it for me [but] I said ‘no, if my husband gets to hear this he wouldn’t be happy but he still insisted’”.

She claimed the harassment went to the extent of her boss “putting his hands into my skirt [and] pulling me; that’s how [my underwear] got torn. I was struggling with him and he was even begging me not to tell anybody”.

She claimed she reported the case to the DVLA Boss, Rudlof Beckley, prompting investigations into the matter.

“…Recently I even reported to our management at the head office and they called the two of us. I was trying to explain things but he was denying”, the alleged victim claimed.

A female colleague, who also claims she suffered similar harassment at the hand of the same man for at least three times said: “He kisses and fondles my breast…he likes every lady at the DVLA…even female clients”.

They both went there as interns and claim they were not given permanent appointment by Noah Tetteh Martey because they refused to give in to his sexual advances.
