Marriage couples asked to renew vows on Valentine’s Day

Kumasi, Feb 13, GNA – A clergyman urged marriage couples to use the Valentine’s Day, which falls on February 14, to renew their vows to refresh their relationships and strengthen their love and family life. Reverend Father Emmanuel Abbem, a priest at the Saint Paul Catholic Parish at Amakom in Kumasi, in an interview with GNA on Wednesday, said the event has been set aside to promote love and reconciliation and the strengthening of relationships. He expressed dissatisfaction that instead of fulfilling the objects of the event, some people engaged in alcoholism, sexual promiscuity and other social vices to mark the celebration. Rev. Fr. Abbem cautioned the youth against activities, armed robbery, prostitution, drug abuse and hooliganism and instead take their studies seriously to enable them to acquire skills and knowledge required for national development. He advised Church leaders to initiate useful programmes for the youth on special occasions such as the Valentine’s Day to help transform their lives. Rev. Fr. Abbem urged parents to monitor the activities of their children, especially the girls to prevent them from engaging in immoral behaviours.
