Marketing officer before court for alleged fraud

Fiapre(B/A), Dec.2, GNA – William Leslie, 32, Marketing Officer of Station FM at Berekum, who allegedly defrauded a women in the sum of 50 million cedis under the pretext of securing a visa and a passport for her to travel to the US has appeared before a Circuit Court at Fiapre, near Sunyani.

Leslie pleaded not guilty and was granted 50 million cedis bail with two sureties to be justified would re-appear on December 12. Police Chief Inspector Samuel Amoani told the Court presided over by Mr. John K. Owusu, that the accused approached the complainant Madam Faustina Mensah, in March this year and collected 50 million cedis to secure a passport and a visa for her to visit her husband in the US.

The prosecutor said after collecting the money the accused went into hiding and the complainant upon enquiries had information that the accused was at Berekum and on July 27, this year, she made a report to the Police and the accused was arrested. Leslie prayed the court to grant him time to consult his family to settle the amount.
