Many transferred voters in UCC now voting

Cape Coast, Dec. 7, GNA – Many of the students at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) who had transferred their votes but could not find their names on the transfer list on Sunday morning, are now voting, at the Auditorium A and B polling stations, due to a master list brought in by the Electoral Commission (EC).

However, at the Auditorium ‘C’ polling station, there is still a long winding queue, and a large number of the students can still not find their names on the transfer list and are therefore checking on the master lists.

Mr Benedict Arko, the presiding officer together with security personnel at the station, had a hectic time controlling the irate students who complained bitterly about what they described as the inaction of the EC to bring the situation under control. Some of the students told the GNA that they have been in the queue since morning and that they were being tossed back and forth, just to cast their votes, all to no avail.

Despite their large numbers, the students who looked determined and undaunted by the situation, waited patiently in the queues. Visits to polling stations at Pedu, Bakaano, Gegem and Ekon showed that the whole exercise was being conducted peacefully and the presiding officers said they had not recorded any incidents. Chief Inspector Kwesi Ewusi, Cape Coast Metropolitan station officer when contacted, said there has not been any reported electoral offence so far.
