Many people travelling to vote on Sunday

Sekondi, Dec. 6, GNA – Lorry parks in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis since Thursday evening had been overflowing with passengers travelling to their constituencies in the Western Region to exercise their franchise.

And this gives an indication that the election would register a high turn-out as a result of the determination of the three prominent political parties in the region, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Convention People’s Party (CPP) to win in most of the 22 constituencies in the region. Most of these passengers who spoke to the Ghana News Agency on Friday and were travelling to the Nzema, Sefwi and Wassa areas said they were traders and workers who did not participate in the last elections because they did not found it necessary to do so. They attributed their desire to vote to the intensive and vigorous campaigning by the parties.

Madam Gladys Afumwah, a trader who was travelling to Debiso, said she was leaving her trading activities in the care of her daughter because of the importance she attached to the voting.

Mr. Samson Ewielo Yankson, who was on his way to Tikobo Number One, said he was determined to see his party win the election hence his determination to vote this time round in spite of the cost. Efua Yakoba who deals in cosmetics said she was travelling to Benyin to vote for her party to win.
