Man killed at Alavanyo

A man believed to be in his late sixties was yesterday murdered at Alavanyo in the Volta Region in the latest twist to the infamous dispute between residents of Alavanyo and Nkonya in the Volta Region.

The man – Mensah Djannie, a banana farmer was said to have been shot in the eye and slashed into pieces by some men believed to be from Nkonya.

Former DCE for Alavanyo Wudidi, Wisdom Amoado, said there was no provocation for the attack which they believe is as a result of the long standing land dispute between the Nkonya and Alavanyo.

He said the murder came as a surprise because life in the area has been normal for some time.
