Man jailed three months for stealing two mobile phones

A Winneba Magistrate Court has sentenced a washing bay attendant to three months imprisonment, in hard labour for stealing Nokia XL and Sony XPERIA Mobile Phones valued at GH? 800

Kwesi Badu, 20, a native of Goa Abosso a suburb of Agona Swedru pleaded guilty and the court presided over by Mr Alexander Oworae convicted him on his own plea.

Prosecuting Police Detective Inspector Peter Agbelie told the court that the complainants are Comfort Araba Crentsil, an Assistant Budget Officer and Mary Sandoh, Seamstress and both residents of Swedru.

The Prosecution said on Easter Monday, March, 28, the complainants together with the accused person came to Sir Charles Beach in Winneba to have fun.

According to the prosecution while there, complainants detected that their handbags have been opened and their mobile phones missing from their bags.

The complainants reported the incident to police officers who were on duty at the beach upon, leading to the arrest of the convict.

The prosecution said a search conducted on him led to the discovery of the two phones which he had hidden in his socks.

Detective Inspector Agbelie said the convict was sent to the police station and after investigation he was charged with the offence.

The phones have since been handed over to the complainants as per the orders of the court.
