Man jailed eight years for defilement

Aflao. Oct 24, GNA- Coffie Dorwu, 35, farmer at Ave-Havi in the Akatsi District was on Thursday sentenced to eight years imprisonment with hard labour by the Aflao Circuit Court for defiling a 12-year-old deaf and dumb girl.

He pleaded not guilty.

Police Inspector Mr James Mensah told the Court presided over by Mr Godwin Kwasi-Kumah, that the victim and Dorwu live in the same village. He said the victim’s parents often detected on her return from farm that someone was having sexual affair with the sick girl but could not find out from her as she is deaf and dumb.

Inspector Mensah said sometime in December, last year, the victim’s mother hatched a plot by hiding in her room leaving the poor girl alone on the compound.

The prosecution said at about 1000 hrs on that day, Dorwu sneaked into the house and again jumped over the innocent girl and began having sex with her.

Mr Mensah said the mother raised an alarm and people around the area arrested Dorwu. 24 Oct 03
