Man jailed 20 years for defilement

Tarkwa (W/R) Feb. 20 GNA – A Tarkwa Circuit court, presided over by Mr. John Aject Nasam on Friday jailed Mr. Ellis Anane, 58, a businessman based at Tarkwa, 20 years for defiling a 14-year old girl.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah of Tarkwa police said the victim was a house help who prepares food for sale with the sister of Anane’s wife.

He said Anane had sexual intercourse with the victim two times on December 29 and 31 2004.

He said at the first instance, Anane sent the victim to collect food from his (Anane) wife and when setting the table in his hall, Anane closed the door and pinned the victim down on the floor and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

Again on December 31, 2004, Anane sent the victim to go and collect spoon and plate from the wife and in his room, Anane had sexual intercourse with the victim and warned her not to tell anybody otherwise she would die.

Charity Mensah, sister of the victim told the court earlier that, about a week after the incident when the victim had stopped going to where she helped the woman to prepare food for sale, she fell unconscious and was treated at Government Hospital, Tarkwa for abdominal pain.

She said the victim was subjected to questioning until she confessed being defiled by Anane.

Mensah said a complaint was lodged at the Police station and Anane was arrested.

The victim also confessed at court when witnessing the ordeal she went through in the hands of Anane without reward.
