Man jailed 18 years for defilement

Kumasi, Dec. 12, GNA – A Kumasi Circuit Court has sentenced a 52-year-old farmer to 18 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 12-year-old class three pupil.

Thomas Boadi pleaded guilty to the charge.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the court presided over by Madam Wilhemina Hammond that on November 15, Boadi told the victim to accompany him to cut a bunch of plantain for her father and defiled her in the farm. The convict warned the victim not to disclose her ordeal to anyone or he would kill her.

On her way home she met one Kwame who questioned her as to what she was doing at that place and she told him what had happened. Kwame informed the victim’s father and Boadi was traced to his hideout at Obuasi and arrested.
