Man fined for knocking down woman with a motorbike

Nsawam, Aug 14, GNA- A circuit court at Nsawam on Wednesday fined Mr Emmanuel Anane, a security officer, 1.2 million cedis for knocking down a woman with an unlicensed Yamaha motorbike.

Anane, who pleaded guilty, will go to prison for six months if he fails to pay the fine.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector James Karbo Domah told the court that on July 27 the accused, who had no driving license and was riding an unlicensed motorbike, knocked down Madam Comfort Korkor.

He said the accused sent the woman to hospital but failed to report the accident to the police. The victim reported the matter when she was discharged.

The court ordered that 600,00 cedis should be paid to the victim to cover her medical expenses.
