Man commits suicide on X’mas Day

A 24-year old man, Seidu Baba was found hanging in an uncompleted building at Effiakuma Number Nine in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis on Christmas Day.

The deceased, who sells pipe borne water in the area, was found hanging early Thursday morning around 0400 hours by his sister, Hajia Addisa who raised the alarm, thus attracting residents of the area to the scene.

The corpse had been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital morgue, pending autopsy.

Takoradi District Police Commander, Superintendent Peter Ofori Donkor, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday, and said the police was investigating the matter to establish whether it was suicide or murder.

The incident had shocked many residents in the area since the deceased was hearty the previous day without giving any hint of committing suicide.

The deceased was said to have returned from Cote d’Ivoire recently after spending some time with relatives.
