Man, 28, arrested for allegedly killing a girl

Gabriel Konkonba, 28, is the grips of the Kintampo Police for allegedly raping, killing and burying 10-year-old Rukaya Fatau at Krabonso in the Kintampo South District of the Brong Ahafo Region.

According to Kintampo Police Command Crime Officer, Superintendent Ohene Takyi, the deceased left school for break around 10.00am on Thursday, February 16, 2017, but did not return to school.

He said a search was carried out in the community by her family and on Friday, February 17, 2017, her body was found buried in the bush.

“We were here when a man came to report to us that his daughter went to school but did not return home. The community members went into the bush to search for the girl. We followed it up and came to a spot where we found the girl was buried in her uniform. We have arrested one person, Gabriel Konkonba we have begun our investigations.”

The mother of the girl, Mma Alija, in an interview, said she was devastated by the incident and called on the police to delve deep into the matter and punish the culprits to serve as a deterrent.

The Finder gathered that this is not the first time a girl has gone missing in the area. The Chairman of the Krabonso Unit Committee, Kwadwo Appiah, revealed that somewhere last year, a girl got missing and was never found.

The body of the girl has been deposited at the Kintampo Government Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Rukaya Fatau, until her death, was in Basic five at Krabonso DA Primary School.
