Man, 20, sexually assaults girl, 6

A six-year-old girl at Kwesimintsim, near Takoradi in the Western Region, sustained injuries in her anus and vagina after she was allegedly defiled by a 20-year-old man in the area.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the 20-year-old man, Isaac Nana Kwesi Baafo allegedly damaged the vagina of the victim.

The victim (name withheld) was rushed to a hospital in Kwesimitsim where she was operated upon by two doctors after the alleged incident on Wednesday.

According to sources, the girl is responding to treatment at the hospital while the suspect is in the custody of the Kwesimitsim Police.

DAILY GUIDE learnt that the 20-year-old suspect was arrested by the police after he had confessed his ‘sin’ to his pastor.

DSP Thomas Bayor, Kwesimintsim District Police Commander, confirmed the story to DAILY GUIDE in an interview and said the suspect was remanded into custody for two weeks by a court.

He indicated that the complainant is a store-keeper and a guardian of the six-year-old victim.

The police officer added that on that fateful day, the complainant left her shop in the care of the suspect while the victim was asleep.

He pointed out that the suspect allegedly took advantage of the absence of the store-keeper and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.

According to the police commander, the shouts of the little girl attracted some residents to the scene who allegedly subjected the suspect to severe beatings.

He was later arrested and handed over to the police.

DSP Bayor confirmed that the victim was sent to the hospital because of the severe injuries she sustained.
