Mamponghene donates to Ashanti School For The Deaf

Mampong (Ash), April 21, GNA – Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, paramount chief of Asante-Mampong, has on behalf of the Mampong Traditional Council donated a cheque for five million cedis to the Ashanti School for the Deaf at Jamasi as its contribution towards the construction of a new library for the school.

He made the donation when the cultural group of the school entertained the traditional council to “adowa” and “kete” traditional drumming and dancing at the Omanhene’s palace at Mampong. Presenting the cheque, Daasebre Osei Bonsu said the donation was in line with the chief’s commitment to the proper training of the handicapped children for them to grow up and lead meaningful lives in society.

Mr John K. Brantuo, Headmaster, who on behalf of the school, received the cheque, commended the chiefs for their gesture, which he said, was consistent with government’s policy.

He thanked the chiefs and said it was very important that they had identified themselves with problems of the school.

The headmaster called on other traditional councils, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), foreign embassies, churches, philanthropists and financial institutions to contribute to the development of the school.
