Malaria infection reduces at Gomoa-Onyadze

Malaria outbreak among children aged between one and five years in the catchment area of Noguchi Memorial Health Centre at Gomoa-Onyadze in the Central Region has for the past eight months gone down drastically.

This follows the acceptance and effective use of treated insecticide mosquito bed-nets by nursing mothers in the area.

Miss Vivian Okine, Principal Enrolled Nurse in-charge of the Centre, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Gomoa-Onyadze last Friday.

Miss Okine commended nursing mothers in and around Onyadze for going strictly to the advice and directives by health workers at the centre and expressed the hope that they would maintain the spirit to safeguard the health needs of their children.

On the general patronage of the people in the 17 communities, which rely on the clinic for their health requirements, Miss Okine described the situation as encouraging.

He advised inhabitants in the area to maintain a high level of domestic and environmental hygiene to protect them against various diseases, especially during the rainy season.

Miss Okine reassured people in the catchment area of the workers determination to provide them a sustained quality health service to keep them healthy at all times.

She told them to always report their health problems to the health officials at the centre for proper advice and direction, instead of relying on quack doctors and drug peddlers.
