Makango Clinic pleads for infrastructure improvement

Makango (NR), March 9, GNA – Authorities at the Makango Clinic in the East Gonja District have appealed to the Ghana Health Service to provide assistance in infrastructure and equipment, to ensure quality healthcare delivery in the area.

Mrs Elisabeth Owusu-Sekyere, Midwife in charge of the clinic told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Makango at the weekend that the clinic was faced with a lot of challenges, which needed to be addressed to improve healthcare delivery.

She mentioned water, toilet facilities for patients and accommodation for staff as some of the problems that needed urgent attention to ensure that staff worked under a congenial environment. Mrs. Owusu-Sekyere said there was also the need to expand facilities at the clinic to help provide quality healthcare services to the ever-increasing number of patients attending the clinic from Makango and surrounding communities.

She said about 60 people visited the clinic daily and that due to the lack of facilities some of them preferred to stay at home and resort to local treatment or rush their patients to Salaga or Yeji for treatment, sometimes precipitating the untimely death of the patients on the way.

The midwife also appealed for a vehicle and some qualified health personnel to be posted to the clinic to cater for the increasing number of attendants.
