Majority Defends Kofi Asante

Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, Abraham Osei-Adu has explained that the presence of former MP for Amenfi West, Kofi Asante at the ECOWAS Parliament is not an oversight. The Minority in Parliament on Tuesday complained about the continuous presence of Mr Asante at the ECOWAS Parliament inspite of his resignation as a Member of Parliament in Ghana.

The NDC MP for Bole Bamboi, John Mahama told JOY FM that a Parliamentary delegation from Ghana to the ECOWAS Parliament in met Mr Kofi Asante in Abuja holding himself out as a representative from Ghana although another MP, S.T. Adamu has been nominated to replace him.

But the Deputy Majority Leader, Abraham Osei-Adu says Kofi Asante was at the sub-regional Parliament to conclude some important assignments he started while at post. He told JOY FM that Ghana’s Parliament is yet to officially notify the ECOWAS Parliament of Mr Asante’s resignation.

Mr Osei Adu who is also the MP for Tema West says Parliament is expecting Mr Kofi Asante to vacate his seat at the ECOWAS Parliament before or at the end of the current session.
