Mahama’s understanding of the economy is shallow – NPP MP

President John Mahama’s understanding of the economic situation in the country has been described as shallow by Hon. Mark Asibey Yeboah, the NPP Member of Parliament for New Juabeng South.

In an interview with NEAT FM’s, Adakabre Frimpong Manso, Hon. Asibey Yeboah disclosed that he could not believe his ears on hearing the President state that due to measures put in place by his administration, the economy will turn around by the end of the year.

Touching on concerns that some of his administration’s economic policies were harsh and had made life difficult for Ghanaians, the President said in his May day speech that; “I assure you my countrymen and women that these measures are achieving the desired effect and the economy is gradually responding.”

“…..This year is a turn-around year for Ghana and I am positive that the Ghanaian economy will show strong signs of recovery by the end of this fiscal year,” he added.

But Hon. Asibey Yeboah is of the view that this statement underscores the fact that President Mahama lacks the in-depth understanding of economic matters.

“…His understanding of the subject leaves much to be desired because all the indicators have proven otherwise.”
