Mahama’s nations address was abuse of incumbency – Nduom

The Presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has criticized President John Mahama’s nationwide broadcast on the eve of December 7, saying, “it is unheard of and uncalled for.”

Addressing the media after voting in Elmina in the Central Region, Dr Nduom described it as “an abuse of incumbency at the highest level and it should be condemned by everyone. If we want to practice what is being practiced in other countries or enjoy all of the things that others are enjoying then the President shouldn’t have done this since it is a competition.”

He advised that the President’s decision to address the nation on the eve of elections “shouldn’t repeat itself again in the coming years.”

On the elections, the Presidential hopeful said a free and fair election “does not happen when we cast our ballots” because it only happens after the last ballot is counted.

Dr. Nduom expressed the hope that the elections will be peaceful and transparent.
