Mahama’s mother airlifted from Accra for burial

The remains of Hajia Abiba Nnaba, mother of President Mahama, have been airlifted to the Northern Region for burial. The Airforce MI17 Helicopter left the Airforce Base in Accra Friday morning.

Hajia Abiba would be buried in her hometown, Busunu in the West Gonja District. A short Islamic service was held for her before the body was airlifted. The Janaza prayers led by Alhaji Nuhu Kamagtey, Gonja Community Imam of Accra were said at the tarmac of the Airforce.

The father side of President Mahama had wanted her buried in Bole where her divorced husband came from. However after consultations the two families agreed for the burial to be held today at Busunu.

Meanwhile, some statesmen and political actors mainly from the governing National Democratic Congress are in Busunu to pay their last respect to her. Zubaida spotted Gender Minister Nana Oye Lithur, Transport Minister Alhaji Inusah Fuseini and NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
