President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians no one in his government will be spared in the fight against corruption.
According to Mahama, “We will go after them… no matter whose ox is gored…we shall continue to fight corruption and will not be deterred by anybody.”
Addressing the last meeting of the Council of State at the Peduase Lodge in the Eastern region, Monday, he said every case bordering on corruption will not go uninvestigated.
He reiterated that all ministers have been instructed to implement the Auditor-General’s report and no one will be spared the rod if found culpable.
The issue of ghost names has compelled the European Union to cease its budget support to the Mahama-led administration. The European bloc said until the phantom names are expunged from government’s payroll it will not resume aid support.
The president told his body of advisors that apart from directing the national service personnel to take their allowances through e-zwich, government would device other ways of stemming ghost names on government payrolls.
“2015 is going to be a pivotal year and am happy to have such an excellent Council that will offer me the power to ensure that Ghana becomes a model in West Africa and the entire continent,” Mahama said.
