Mahama receives General Gowon and Jeffrey Sachs

President John Mahama on Friday held discussions with former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.) and Professor Jeffrey Sachs of the Earth Institute.

General Gowon is in Accra to take part in the meetings of the 12th Ministerial Committee of the Inter-Governmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA). Accompanying him were official of GIABA and the Director General of Ghana’s Financial Intelligence Centre.

The discussions centred on fighting the menace of anti money laundering in the subregion.

Professor Sachs was joined in the meeting by Minister for Health, Sherry Ayittey, to update the President on the various initiatives and projects he is involved in, including the Millennium Villages Project.
