Mahama presents 12 vehicles to House of Chiefs

President Mahama calls on traditional leaders to partner the government in ensuring a peaceful election. According to the president, he will put in place necessary security measures to ensure that no Ghanaian is disenfranchised.

Speaking at a meeting with members of the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi on Tuesday, President Mahama said “the country needs peace to go through these elections. In this regard, I call on nananom and ask for their cooperation in the maintenance of peace and order before, during and after the election.”

President Mahama donated 12 Toyota Highlander Four-wheel drives to the National House of Chiefs. Every region is expected to receive one while the headquarters takes custody of two of the vehicles.

The president further urged leaders of the various political parties to conduct their campaigns devoid of personal attacks “after all we all brothers and sisters and we’ll continue to be so even after the election.”

“We should therefore not do anything that would tarnish the democratic and good governance credentials that Ghana has established and is so well reputed for.”

He reiterated his commitment to being president for all.

The President of the National House of Chiefs Prof. Naa Nabila commended government for the implementation of the single spine salary and urged the president to ensure that all outstanding issues with the implementation is resolved.

He also added his voice to the need for a peaceful atmosphere during the December polls and urged al the parties to do well to ensure that their charges are kept in check.

President Mahama later paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II.
