“My government placed a temporary ban on all state land transactions to enable a thorough review of system processes. That exercise has yielded valuable insights into the weaknesses of our current system and the urgent reforms that are required,” he said.
He added that the ban had achieved its purpose and would now give way to a new, more transparent process for managing land transactions.
“With the inauguration of this new Commission and the introduction of strong accountability measures, I am pleased to announce that the ban on land transactions has been lifted,” the President declared.
Mahama stressed that future land deals will be subject to a digital verification system under strict oversight, designed to promote fairness and restore public confidence in land administration.
“The lifting of the ban does not mean a return to business as usual. It marks the beginning of a disciplined era in land management that prioritises transparency, fairness, and justice,” he added.
