Mahama donates TV sets to Cuban Medical Brigade

Bole (N/R), Sept. 1, GNA – Mr John Dramani Member of Parliament (MP) for Bole Bamboi, has presented two television sets and two video decks, valued at 9.3 million cedis to two Cuban doctors for their dedicated services to the hospital, which is constraint by inadequate personnel.

The donation, which was made possible through the MPs share of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund; was presented on behalf of the MP, by his brother Mr Adams Mahama.

Mr Mahama noted that Ghanaians appreciate the contribution of the Cuban Health Brigade, hence the donation.

He assured the staff of the hospital of the continuous assistance of the MP to lure more personnel to the health facility. The District Chief Executive, Madam Elizabeth Salamatu Forgor said the District Assembly had instituted a programme to fund the education of students in education and health institutions, who are prepared to serve the district after graduation.

Madam Salamatu Forgor commended the Cuban doctors for accepting postings to the district.

She explained that the donation of the MP was a token of what the District Assembly intended doing to show its appreciation to the Cuban doctors and encourage more doctors to accept postings to the area. Receiving the donation on behalf of the doctors, the Acting District Medical Officer, Dr Samuel Bosumtwi expressed his appreciation and that of the hospital to the MP for the donation.

He noted that the Cuban doctors were posted to the country at a time when the Ghana Health Services was yearning for more doctors and expressed the hope that the donation would go a long way to motivate the Cuban doctors to continue to offer their dedicated services in saving lives.
