Mahama consoles Jomoro flood victims

President John Dramani Mahama has presented relief items worth Ghc22,000 to flood victims in the Jomoro District of the Western Region.

The items are 30 bags of rice, 25 gallons of cooking oil, 35 bags of maize and five bags of sugar.

The Minister of Energy and Petroleum Resources, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah presented the items to affected communities on behalf of President Mahama.

The communities were hit hard by torrential rainfall and affected 6000 people and claimed one life. 500 others were also displaced.

Mr Kofi Buah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, said the donation forms part of President Mahama’s humanitarian gesture to the people in the wake of the natural disaster.

He said the President would dispatch engineers to assess the situation.

Mr Kofi Buah assured the affected communities that government is solidly behind them in their trying moments.
