Local Government Ministry expresses appreciation

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, has expressed its gratitude to the public for their participation in the maiden edition of the National Sanitation Day clean-up exercise on Saturday.

A statement issued in Accra by Mr Isaac Dupey, Public Relations Officer at the Ministry and copied to Ghana News Agency on Monday entreated members of the public who had come across heaps of refuse in their communities or elsewhere to contact the following telephone number for collection.

They are 0504511055, 0570080821 and 0545519949.

The statement said the numbers would facilitate prompt action and serve as a platform for further information relating to the exercise.

Government has declared the first Saturday of every month as National Sanitation Day to rid the country of filth in the wake of the cholera outbreak which has so far claimed 1900 lives across the country. The maiden edition of the exercise was held nationwide on Saturday, November 1.
